Real hammer! Drinking hot tea will increase the risk of esophageal cancer!

Past studies have found a connection between drinking hot tea and esophageal cancer, but so far there has been no research to test this association through prospective and objective studies by measuring the temperature of the tea drunk.

A recent study published in the International Journal of Cancer verified this by conducting an average 10-year follow-up survey on 50045 participants aged 40-75 years (2004-2017). Related, the study is titled "A prospective study of tea drinking temperature and risk of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma".

During the study, the researchers identified 317 new-onset esophageal cancer patients. Through the analysis of the data, the researchers found that compared with participants who drank less than 700 ml of hot tea with a temperature of less than 60 ℃ per day, Participants who had more than 700 ml of hot tea with a temperature not lower than 60°C had a 90% increased risk of esophageal cancer.

"Many people enjoy drinking coffee or other hot beverages with tea, but according to our report, drinking very hot tea can significantly increase the risk of esophageal cancer. Therefore, we recommend that you wait until its temperature drops below 60°C before drinking hot beverages. drink". The lead author of the study, Dr. Farhad Islami of the American Cancer Society, said.
